Excellent experience. Food was very fresh - and even tasty as leftovers as I eat it and type this review. The fried squash received raves by all adults and even a few of the kids (miracle). Crab cake is delicious - shrimp well cooked and very tasty - crab chowder creamy and delicious. Our party of nine all are well and were very pleased. Owner came out and talked with us and even comp'd a meal that was good but not awesome - we were very pleased at the service and this has moved to our top of the list eating establishment when we are spending our week at Holden.

We arrived with a party of six on a Thursday night. We were told the wait was approx 45 minutes. It ended up being two hours. When we were seated at 9pm, our server was prompt and did a good job. Our appetizers arrived quickly and were hot, thankfully, because we were all frustrated and starving. However, our meals took another hour to arrive. Three of the six were incorrect and/or missing items. My steak was 75% fat and gristle. All of our food, including the fried seafood, was cold. Honestly, it takes a LOT for me to complain at a restaurant, but when the owner came over to ask how our dinner was, I couldn't lie....it was terrible. She made a whole lot of excuses, even telling us how many tables were mad and complaining, and offered new food (which we really didn't want based on the quality of our previous food and the fact that it was 11pm). Only after I suggested she give us a discount did she comp our meals. While we appreciated this gesture, our one night out with family and friends had been ruined and we left hungry after almost four hours.

We called ahead to get our name on the seating list. Arrived 20 minutes later and waited an additional 45 minutes for a first-available table. Once our table of 11 was seated, it was another 13 minutes before anyone came to our table to take drink order. Drinks came in Dixie cups because they ran out of glassware. We had a 48 minute ticket time on the order. The shrimp was good, but the flounder was unremarkable. The manager did offer to fix what was wrong, but we were almost 3 hours into this ordeal, so she was fighting a losing battle. Hush puppies arrived after the meals. They were good, but how does a seafood restaurant run out of hush puppies? The staff said it's a common occurrence. The waitstaff was accommodating, but there are issues in the kitchen that sorely need to be addressed. This looks like a restaurant that has been successful in spite of itself, and not because of the food or service. Giving it 2 stars because they tried to recover, but we won't be back and can't recommend it.

Second time coming to this restaurant. I have (had) positive memories of my first trip - this trip, meh...not so much. The waiter seemed to be either very new or just in over his head. He was nice enough, but we had to constantly remind him of needed items. He needs some coaching. There were four of us. Three of four very much so enjoyed their meal. I got steak and shrimp. The shrimp was ok, but the steak was incredibly bland and fatty (even for a ribeye). They forgot my salad, the fries were lukewarm and the onion rings that topped the steak were almost cold. So, I will give this place another chance, but my happy memories of my first visit have been overshadowed by tonight. Oh well, The hush puppies were good! :) The view is incredible!!!

Took a trip on the motorcycle trying to get to Calabash for brunch, Due to extreme traffic near Ocean Isle Beach decided to turn around as I had saw the sign for Inlet View a few miles back. What a great decision this was. We stopped in and it was fairly busy, but they offer indoor and two levels of outdoor seating. We were sat immediately, both of us order the Shrimp Omelet, which was delicious and very reasonably priced, especially for the view and time of year. I will be going back. The service was also top notch. I would recommend this to anyone. I'm sure that the Tiki Bar up on the 3rd level also has a special atmosphere but I didn't get to test that.

We were recently down in Ocean Isle, so drove over to try this place out. I'm glad we did! Easy-going atmosphere was the perfect vibe for our beach vacation. Three of the five in our group had the flounder and it was excellent. One person had the peel and eat shrimp and that was also excellent. One person had blackened mahi mahi and he loved it. And did I mention they gave a basket of hush puppies to start us off? Now I'm not a fan of hush puppies, but I tried one and they were the best I'd ever had (which really isn't saying too much as I've only had them one other time and didn't like them). It was a nice touch and everyone else seemed to enjoy them. Service was friendly and responsive, view was gorgeous. Only other recommendation is to bring bug spray if you're sitting outside - the bugs were fierce. Go try it out and enjoy.

One of the best restaurants we went to in at the beach! It's surrounded by water and you can see the coast from the porch! On the ground, they have places to tie your boat up and a sand cornhole pit. You can be seated on any level to eat. We got there around 6:00 and since the sun was beginning to set, we sat on the third floor outside. It was such a fun atmosphere with live music and people dancing the Carolina Shag!! They had a great selection of cocktails and wines. As far as good goes, the hushpuppies and scallops were excellent starters. For my entree, I chose the peppered yellowfin tuna appetizer and it was seared to perfection with amazing flavor!

Inlet View Bar and Grill is beautifully situated on the intracoastal waterway and offers excellent views. Perhaps the views are to distract you from a merely average meal. The stuffed flounder is well seasoned and cooked to perfection however the menu pulls a fast one on you. The menu states the flounder is stuffed with crab meat. Actually the flounder isn't stuffed, but your filet rests on a crab meat stuffing with more breading and shrimp pieces than discernible crab. The Sea scallops were well prepared and each of the various fried dishes at our table -shrimp, soft shell crab, oysters - were adequately prepared. The kids menu offers no kid size seafood portions such as popcorn shrimp. Service was average, not overly friendly and there were no dinner specials offered. Overall just another seafood establishment that stays in business due to the views and lack of local competition that actually cares about delivering a seafood dining experience.

Inlet View is a little slice of heaven on Earth. The food was pretty good. I had a cheeseburger and my husband had the homemade crab cakes. The fries were the low point, but the hush puppies more than made up for them. Everyone in our group of 12 enjoyed their food, and the wait wasn't bad considering they were very busy. But honestly, I'd come back to Inlet View time and time again even if the food was awful because THAT VIEW! Wow. I've never had a better view in my life. We watched dolphins frolic in the inlet our entire stay. It was such a sight to behold that we came back again the next day just to see it again.

Inlet View is definitely worth the drive from Ocean Isle or Sunset. It has an awesome atmosphere, good food, and friendly service. It is a great place to catch a sunset over the waterway. We came here based upon Yelp reviews when we were staying in Ocean Isle. Ocean Isle really doesn't have a lot of options for seafood, so we ventured off the island. This place is back down a side road kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it is worth the drive. Really not a haul from Ocean Isle either. They have 3 stories. The first is a sandy area to just enjoy an outdoor cocktail. They have a nice little corn hole area down there. The next level if for indoor dining. The third level has nice outdoor seating and an indoor bar. We opted for the third level since it was a nice warm night, and we were not disappointed. It has a beautiful view of the intracoastal waterway. It is perfect for a warm summer night when you are looking for a beachy atmosphere. I was in the mood for seafood so I got the blackened Mahi Mahi. This came with two sides and I opted for the sweet potato fries and the green beans. The Mahi was great and cooked to perfection. It had a nice bit of spice, but not too much. Sweet potato fries were nice and crunchy and it came with some good ranch. I tried my girlfriend's stuffed flounder. I hate to admit it, but it might have been even better than mine. The crab meat was so flavorful and well cooked. Each meal comes with hush puppies. They must've been just frying up a new batch because they came halfway through the meal. Well worth the wait though. Those babies are good. They are sweet with a little bit of spice to them and come with a dessert worthy honey butter sauce to dip them in. I could have eaten baskets and baskets of these things. The service was very good. Our waiter was a hustler. I think he might have been covering the while outside area himself and I swear the guy never stopped moving. We never wanted for a drink refill and the food came out quickly. Very impressive. I would definitely recommend going to Inlet View if you are anywhere near the area. This is a great place to bring the family or to come enjoy drinks outside with friends. Good seafood and a great view.

The ribeye steak was ordered med-rare came out med-well and my wife's creek shrimp was cold, soggy and rubbery. My salad came out 5 minutes after my meal was delivered. Several in our group had decent fish sandwiches. In response to your reply. The people delivering the food knew the salads came 20 minutes late and the waitress came by very quickly but didn't seem interested in replies. It's just a system out of control.
(2)Samantha B.
Worth the drive because the views are amazing! Food was really good and my mahi mahi was cooked perfectly! My parents had shrimp and oysters and their food was also very good. We never received our hush puppies and I could have had a second glass of wine but the view and food was so good I def recommend this place for sure!
(4)Jay B.
This is how a shrimp po boy is supposed to look. Bursting with shrimp, remoulade with kick. Great food and service.
(5)Kristen K.
Had a good family dinner here to end our week at the beach. Went early on friday and were sat immediately. Waitress was very nice and pleasant - never had a dry glass of water. Ordered a strawberry daiquiri but literally could not taste a single hint of any alcohol so that was a bummer. My mom got one too and said the exact same thing. The strawberry flavor was on point though and was really yummy. My mom got the house salad and was actually pretty impressed with the house salad - romaine instead of iceberg which is a big plus in my book. I thought the clam chowder was very good too - a good amount of clams and had good flavor. My husband said the crab cakes were delicious. My other friend got the vegetarian plate but thought she was mislead by the description on the menu. This is definitely a pasta plate with veggies. She thought it was going to have way more veggies than it actually did, but she still thought it was good. I got the grilled mahi and my mom got the blackened mahi. They were both good, but not the best I've ever had. overall we had some good meals and some that didn't quite hit the mark, but I would definitely come back. Might try breakfast next time!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area--and judging by the crowd that is ALWAYS there, I'm not the only one. It seems like everyone who has written a bad review has done so because they were made to wait at some point in their visit, either to get a table or to get their drinks/food/checks. To them I say: sit back, relax, and try to enjoy the fact that you're outside on an amazing patio with one of the most gorgeous views on this sweet earth. The place is slammed, and this is the south, so it wouldn't hurt us all to have a little patience. That said, don't come TOO hungry because you might be waiting awhile. Luckily my aunt knows some VIPs here so we always get seated quickly. I'm pretty partial to the seared tuna appetizer, though my photography doesn't do justice to the deliciousness of the dish. It comes with MUCH more wasabi than is necessary though, so beware! Their salads are huge, and their portions of seafood platters are as well. Fried oysters here are my second favorite. They have an extensive menu of tropical cocktails here but I usually stick with a cold beer because it just feels right. You can play corn hole downstairs with a drink while you wait for your table too. You just can't beat this place!
(4)Ryan M.
Meh. It was alright. Nothing special. This place is like, three stories and of the three stories I think there were maybe 12 patrons inside for lunch time. Fiancee had crab legs that were a bit rubbery (over cooked), and lacked any real flavor aside from 'crab'. I had some sort of variation of potato skins with seafood in them, which was an interesting appetizer. Wasn't bad!
(2)Maggie T.
We dinned here twice for lunch while we were at ocean isle for a week. The view is awesome. Everyone loved their food and both waitresses were super friendly and attentive. Plus you can bring your dog on the first deck.
(4)Holly T.
The food was varied, but unfortunately the service was very disappointing. The Food: 3 people from my party ordered the Mahi-mahi and Mahi-Mahi wrap and they were fantastic. The blackening spices were very good and it was cooked to perfection! The lobster mac n cheese was crusty and lacked flavor; however, the grilled crab cakes were delicious! Everyone really loved the hushpuppies. The Service: Unfortunately we had an extremely negative experience with the service provided. We called ahead as was recommended online, but when we arrived were not prioritized whatsoever. The hostesses were extremely disorganized and gave us misinformation about where we could seat ourselves. We ended up having to wait for 2 hours, there were not enough menus for all of us, there was also a shortage of cups for us, and many of our orders were incorrect. We were greatly underwhelmed by our experience.
(2)Heather A.
Atmosphere was fun. Live band, nice views of the water. The food was not good. We waited forever for a table, which wasn't really an issue since the band was playing. But when we finally got a table, it took a ridiculously long time for it to be cleared and for the waiter to take our order. We kept having to flag him down for drink refills. It was obvious that he was extremely busy. It looked like the place was understaffed. They could have used at least a few more waiters and definitely another bartender. When we finally got our food, it was terrible. We had some sort of crab dip, which was awful. My friend had a burger, which was like a hockey puck. We were sitting outside and there was no lighting. I can understand that, since it would attract bugs. However, it was so dark, that we couldn't see what we were eating. Now, I understand that places like this, which are in such prime locations, are more for just that...the location. However, I wish the food/service was at least somewhat decent. I don't plan on going back here again.

We had a large group for dinner so I called ahead and added our name to the list. I am glad I did because they were already bustling and only getting busier on a Wednesday night. They have an elevator for those who need it, but there are also 2 sets of steps. Once inside I checked with the hostess for our status where she encouraged me to check for an available table upstairs in the bar area, in order to be seated quicker. I immediately found the manager cleaning off a table that we could dine at and she said that we could use it. Upon returning with my group, the table was ready for us. We had a great view of the river right from the table! Our server was great! She managed to keep drinks full for our thirsty group. Our appetizers of hush puppies and crab dip were ok but I would not order them again. The entrees arrived in a timely fashion but 2 sides were missing that they promptly returned with from the kitchen. The fried shrimp tasted fresh but my entree of grilled oysters and shrimp was amazing! I had never had grilled oysters before and I wish I tried them a long time ago. I got the fresh veggies which were the best green beans that I have ever had and some sautéed spinach under the seafood. It was one of the best meals that I have ever had. The deviled crab was also yummy. Some people in our group said they preferred the tourist trap known as Calabash but I would return to this place in a heartbeat. I will be back next year!

I went here for dinner based on a recommendation from a local to the area. We are staying on Oak Island for the week so it was a quick 30 minute drive for dinner. We went on a Wednesday night and this place was very busy. Since it was the 2 of us we did not have to wait very long for a seat. They had cornhole outside for people to play while waiting for a seat of after dinner. Bar is on the first floor and dining seating is on second and 3rd levels. We were immediately greeted by our waitress who got our drinks pretty quickly. I ordered the blackened mahi-mahi with sweet potato fries and a side salad. My husband went for the new menu item Lobster mac n cheese. Our side salads arrived quickly after ordering then came our main entrees. My mahi-mahi was to die for. Spiced perfectly with some awesome tartar sauce for dipping. It was the best mahi-mahi I have had in a long time. The sweet potato fries were pretty good too. Nice and crisp and not soggy at all. The lobster mac-n-cheese on the other hand was not that great. The waitress asked for feedback and said it is a new menu item they are trying to improve upon and appreciated the feedback he provided. It was very dry and not creamy like others we have had in the past. There was plenty of cheese but it was still too dry. I would check to see what improvements were made before ordering that if you end up going. Overall it was a great experience and the service was outstanding so I would definitely return. The view is pretty amazing too!
(4)Jerry C.
Nice, multi-level restaurant. The top floor with the bar is best after a round of golf, or day on the beach. Nice selection/variety of beer. I had fried shrimp and French fries. The batter on the shrimp was pretty good. I like their coleslaw as well. Last, great service - fast.
(4)Caroline D.
This is place has it all. Music bar family place. Awesome service and food! We will be back again and again!
(5)Eric U.
Great view. Great place for cocktails before going somewhere else for dinner. Most food fried. Fish is definitely not fresh. They seem to be way understaffed. Dinners came out wrong and some food came out 30 minutes after others got their meals. Our sever was very nice and had lots of practice apologizing to customers
(2)Matt S.
Went there last night for dinner (7/16/15). Waited way too long for a table. Granted it was Thursday night, but when you tell me 45 min and we wait 30-40 minutes longer than that, we have a problem. We're on vacation, so I don't mind a long wait for a table but when I get to the bar and I'm ignored for 20 minutes, watching the folks next to me drink TWO rounds to my none, I'm not a happy person. Worst bartending staff I've seen in a long, long time. I'm here to drink and tip you well while I wait for a table. I know you're busy, but you can acknowledge me at least, rather than blow me off for 20-25 min. They both just looked annoyed to be there in the first place, I don't think I saw either bartender crack a smile. Food and service were ok once we were seated and the view is great, but this place is not worth the wait. Take your money elsewhere.
(2)Emily W.
Awesome place to check out! I recommend you sit up top for the sunset views and band in the evening. Service was friendly and quick, food was great! Crab legs were really tasty. The fried corn wasn't that great, but it's not the preparation I'm used to. Definitely somewhere I'll be visiting again when we're in the area!
(5)Leslie K.
I love coming to Inlet View for lunch and dinner. The BLT on Texas Toast is my favorite! The service is always great and the view is awesome. I sometimes come by myself and while I do get weird looks from the hostess, they are always good at paying close attention to me and getting me in and out of there pretty quickly. It's my favorite place to go when I go to the beach.
(4)Michelle C.
Great breakfast! Ham and cheese omelette was delicious and French toast is a must have!! Portions are a good size and you definitely can't beat the price. Everyone is really nice too. We will definitely come here again!
(5)Leah L.
Two words. Fried Seafood! AH-mazing. AND it's LOCAL seafood. Which is so great. Our server called me honey and it was almost as good as the honey butter that comes with the piping hot hush puppies. Try the spicy shrimp app too. If this place had no windows and no lights, I would still drive 30 mins to eat here. Luckily we drove by boat from Sunset Beach. THE MOST GORGEOUS VIEW is the icing on top of this southern and delicious cake.
(5)Karen S.
What good is a rooftop bar if its not open during the day? We brought our friend there for an afternoon cocktail and to check out the view and the bar was CLOSED- this is TWICE this has happened to us- once in season and once off. Inlet View why wont you have your bar open during the day- who knows how much $$ you are missing out on! If you want a frozen refreshing cocktail with your lunch give this place a PASS.
(1)Cristy T.
This place is a hidden gem. Just a short drive from OIB and the best food we've found in the area. The atmosphere is really neat and the restaurant is well kept. They seem to vary from busy to slow so the wait time could vary. We went on a Sunday and waited 30 minutes. They told us they were dead the night before. They do not take reservations. The menu is varied and prices are reasonable. The amount of food is sufficient. My 7 yr old loved being able to see the boats come in and playing corn hole while we waited. The hush puppies are great as other reviewers commented. They are served with cinnamon butter. Lots of dishes are fried but it isn't a greasy mess like a lot of local eateries. I had the crab cakes grilled -delicious. The sweet potato fries were good too. Highly recommend if you want a taste of local flavor.
(5)Susan T.
Beautiful views....wish I could talk about the food....but you would actually have to get seated and have a chance to order to know anything about the food. Cannot remember a time when I experienced such poor customer service....not even sure there was any customer service!!! We did call ahead seating and were told a table would be ready in 45 min - an hour. Got there and were told there were only 3 - 4 groups ahead of us. (Keep in mind this place is three stories...so not small) Bout 45 min went and checked & and was told "very close just a couple more minutes". Another 20 mins or so checked again.....they could not find our name...finally looked at the sheet before last and found it. The response was "we will get you seated immediately. " Had my niece & nephew with and up until then they were doing great - but were hungry and getting very restless, so we asked for some hush puppies and were told they could not do that because we had not been seated!!! REALLY!!!!! It wasn't like we had been waiting over an hour after having called 45 - min in advance. (We were 6 adults & 2 kids) Fast forward another 30 minutes...and we are still not seated and no snack for the kids. In asking at this point (trying to not go ballistic)....the girl snapped at us sayjng "I told you we were seating you soon." (Oh no she didn't!!?!?!) They are now two and a half pages past our name.....Needless to say, I was not happy and that is a gross understatement. As I was trying to get an answer another woman came over...and her "claim to fame" is that she said...."we just won't do call ahead seating anymore." WHO CARES!!!!!! How does that get somebody a table???? So after 45 min - hour call ahead seating and an hour and forty-five min at the restaurant, we left. Essentially, after almost 3 hours....we had received no food, no apology, no nothing except a load of crap and attitude :( NOT a snowballs chance .....I go there again!!!!!
(1)Melissa N.
Hush puppies are amazing as everyone else mentioned! We ordered the shrimp sandwich and the pick two grilled seafood. The pick two grilled seafood with scallops and shrimp was a really good portion size and seasoned well- sweet potato fries were soggy and cold and mixed vegetables were really just grilled onions with a piece of broccoli and a small piece of squash. Grilled shrimp sandwich was just shrimp on a bun- no sauce, lettuce, tomatoe or anything else. Service was just okay. The server was very young and couldn't recommend any good cocktails, she also didn't tell us the special and then I overheard her telling the other table and thought I would have liked to have ordered it instead and never brought to go boxes for our leftovers. I am pretty sure she was new and probably her first job - still disappointing though. View and seating outside was outstanding- would highly recommend this if you are looking for a place with a view. We actually stopped eating our meals to eat more hush puppies so maybe just order some hush puppies and enjoy the view!
(2)Christian F.
Not a fan of this place. It smelled fishy when went and the waitress would always disappear. We had to wait 20 min and then they added 30 and then they added more but we finally got in. The fish was......ok it was a little dry and had no flavor. The next time I go I will get a salad
(2)Leah H.
Our family had a wonderful lunch today! My husband had a shrimp po boy, daughter a creek shrimp basket, son a hamburger, and I had a Mahi wrap. All were delicious! We had great service and a view that couldn't be beat. We will definitely be back!
(5)Jill K.
Very underwhelmed despite all of the rave reviews. The oysters were inedible, the shrimp were overly chewy, and the New England Clam Chowder is definitely not clam chowder.. As a NE transplant, this soup, at best, could be called a baked potato soup with a handful of clams. Our waitress appeared bored by our presence. When asked about several items, she told us either not to order them, or responded, "Nah, not that good" - definitely waitressing 101 to not talk down your food.. All in all, it appears this place is a tourist trap, with the overpriced food and drinks. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
(2)Karen A.
Always AWESOME! Very consistent. Mahi on Inlet Salad with Ginger dressing. Yum yum!!
(5)Jeffrey N.
My wife & I ate there last night Seated quickly outside where the view of the inlet is spectacular. People playing corn hole Walking the dock checking the boats Service was good as was the food. Hush puppies, fried oysters and crab stuffed flounder . The only issue too much dressing on the Caesars salad. Overall a pleasant and positive evening.
(3)Ryan W.
This place was suggested by my gfs mother a local here in Holden Beach/Shallotte area. The view is spectacular. The blue water meets the green in the marshy reeded intercoastal waterway in a beautiful and scenic fashion. We ordered a fried shrimp appetizer that was really good. The peel and eat shrimp were delicious and prawn size. The best seafood I'd eaten on this July 4th weekend by far. The one man band was awesome Richard something or other. He played a mean Van Halen to be sure. My flounder was okay just not great so 4 stars. But everyone we talked to was super friendly and smiled and gave good suggestions. We will be back to this gem of a restaurant/bar. The fist paragraph was our dinner experience, this second is breakfast/brunch. Their breakfast time is listed as stopping at 11. We got here at 10:45. We were told that they were backed up past breakfast and they were on lunch service. And that it would be a while for food items to arrive. What we were not expecting was a 1 hr wait before our appetizers even arrived. The table next to us waited over an hour with half, party of 10, getting their breakfast 20 minutes after the rest of thir party. After 1 hr 20 minutes we left. Our food never arrived, just the peel and eat shrimp 1 pound we got for free because it was all comped. We left $10 for our waitress though. It's not her fault. BTW I've worked in food service before. 4 stars for first review, 1 for the second, for an agregate average of 2 stars.

Went to resultant after many people in my vacation party could not decide where to eat. Omg if you are vacationing in Holden beach it is worth the little drive to experience this resultant. Had the 3 choice combo fan tail shrimp, oysters,& deviled crab cakes. Very delicious makes the "seafood barn" look just like it sounds a barn
(4)Chris A.
Mahi Mahi blackened was excellent. My daughter loved the shrimp scampi. Hush puppies and sweet potato fries were goo-ood. Key lime pie also very good.
(5)George V.
From the moment we met with the hostess and looked around, I got the impression this was a "tourist food factory". You know, the place that's overly popular because of its waterfront location. Everyone working there is too stressed trying to deal with the crowds to give you a memorable experience, let alone good service. After about 10 minutes waiting for the bartender to acknowledge us, we ordered two drinks and my wife thought it would be nice to get our little girls "mocktails" to make the wait more fun. When the wife nicely objected to the styrofoam cups the bartender made them in, asking for an actual glass, we were told in a rude manner there was no way she was wasting glasses on kids. That DID NOT sit well with my wife so we had our drinks and then we left to eat at a more family friendly establishment.

Excellent food & service! Can't beat the prices and the ambience. Definitely coming back again for breakfast!
(5)Brian N.
We have a place in Sunset Beach and drive to Inlet View in Shalotte whenever I'm in town. Casual, no frills, relaxing, and delicious. They've got a nice view of the waterway dining from a two level deck, plus indoor seating and a bar. Good friendly service. Yummy, fresh, "local catch" seafood. Great value. I usually get the $22 Seafood Combo and it's so much food I've never been able to finish it. Hushpuppies are yummy also. This is my favorite seafood place in the area by far.
(5)Ray H.
Good Food But! My wife and I visited Inlet View on 10-24-14. We are locals and the restaurant was not crowded. We decided to split a senior citizen's plate as we do in most places. I should point out that I have a Lap Band and can only eat small portions. I then find Inlet View charges a $3.00 sharing charge. In my opinion, that is ridiculous. I am willing to pay $1.00 for the cost to wash a plate. Also, I had a beer so they made plenty of profit on me. The food was excellent, but we will not go back again.
(3)Jennifer D.
This place was a find for our crew. Some of us like rare tuna with wasabi, others like fried, calabash style seafood platters, and others don't eat seafood. This place had it all. My blackened flounder and shrimp combo with nicely done green beans and a salad with green leaf (not iceberg) lettuce was delicious and a ton of food. If you do appetizers, look out because the portions are large. Or, take it home for lunch the next day. Everyone was happy with their meal and I'm definitely coming back to this place. We sat inside because it was cold, but the outside space would be awesome in good weather and daytime for the water views. It's worth the drive from the island.

Really enjoyed our lunch here. The view is fantastic. Lots of dock space for boaters. Prices were average. They didn't seem prepared for the opening rush at lunch but they made up for it by comping drinks and bringing an appetizer.

We did the "call ahead seating" for party of 7 last Saturday night. Got there at 7:50p. Seated at 8:00pm. We ordered cocktails and appetizers. They came within a reasonable time. My frozen margarita came "on the rocks". Sent back. Others all ordered cocktails as well. They were poor quality and very watered down. The calamari and sea scallops were very good. Then there was a LONG wait before our food came. We have been to Inlet View several times in the past (which was a 35 minute drive for us one way). We weren't expecting this super slow service. After 3 more servings of hush puppies to keep us quiet, food finally showed up @ 9:05p. Waitress was as good as she could have been but the excuses got old. (Looking around, many other tables were in the same situation.) Now for the next surprise. The special was cobia (fish). Two people ordered it. Server brought out 2 fish plates saying one was cobra and the other was Mahi Mahi. When we said we ordered cobia, server said "oh yea, it was cobia" but didn't look anything like the other cobia order. After waiting over an hour, my son ate it anyway because didn't have time to wait for replacement. Four of us in the party ordered green beans as side item, but were served broccoli instead. Waitress said "Oh, they must have run out of green beans" Didn't mention this beforehand to see what WE would want in place of it or apologized for the switch. Again, we all ate it because of the wait. Several of us ordered the corn on the cob. After biting into it, the surface of the corn was barely warm, but the inside of the corn was cold-- almost like they pulled it out of the freezer and hurriedly cooked it but not long enough. We told the waitress. She apologized and brought us a replacement ear of corn but it too was not cooked thoroughly.... then trying to make amends they brought an order of sweet potato fries (which no one ate) and offered a piece of key lime pie to go. By that time, we really just wanted to leave. The waitress went to get manager. What surprised me the most is the manager came over and apologized for the food being incorrect and asked us to come back and give them another try. Our bill was $275.00. No adjustments to our bill were even offered. A good manager, especially with so many things being wrong and knowing we were repeat customers, would have offered to adjust bill. It amazes me as to how aloof the manager was. She apparently was going around to the other tables with the "I'm so sorry" speech and "please come back" Many peoples orders had been incorrect and not up to par---but not as bad as ours. . We are sorry we went and raved about it to others who were with us. We will never go back until they clean house with the current management. Absolutely no excuse.

This is hands-down one of the best restaurants in the area. Food is excellent and the service and management are superior. Sam is the best and makes sure your experience is a positive one. Make sure to ask for Josh when you're there; he is fantastic!!! Can't say enough great things about this restaurant!!

My husband and I went to this restaurant for the very first time recently and have now put it at the top of our "must go to" places. The building is very large and beautiful. You have your choice of environments to eat in. We were fortunate to be able to get a table in their screened in porch area that looked out over the Inter-coastal waterway. It was heavenly. They also have a truly beautiful top floor with a bar area and more dining. Outdoor areas are also available with fabulous views. Now for the food - it was amazing. I ordered a fried flounder sandwich and it was perfectly cooked - not under-cooked and not overcooked. The sweet potato fries were the best I had ever had. A lot of restaurants tend to burn sweet potato fries but not this place. They were also larger then the sweet potato fries that I've had in other restaurants. Their sweet tea was sweet and good - and the hush-puppies were the best I've ever had. Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. The owner even came over to see how we were enjoying our meal. We will be returning!

Good food, but too many back to back bad experiences at this place. We have a home away from at Holden Beach and typically make it to Inlet View at least once every time we are down. I will not be going to this restaraunt anymore. The food is generally good, over priced, but good. However, service is very slow. There can be 5 groups there or a packed house, and you are going to wait. We went with another couple on Saturday 5/23. Holiday weekend, so it was packed. we arrived at approximately 7:30. 4 ppl, hour wait for a table. We went upstairs, where it is supposed to be first come, first serve. It is clearly not. There were lots of people who thinks money can buy you everything, and having the wait staff hold tables. Shame on inlet view for doing and allowing this. Rules are rules, and money shouldn't buy you out of everything. Just because I can afford to pay someone to sit me faster, doesn't mean I should, and doesn't make it fair to anyone else. Anyway, we made it to a table within 30 minutes, no extra money required. So roughly 8pm. By 9:40 we had still not received our food. When we asked the waitress about how much longer; she checked with the kitchen and told us there were 2 tickets infront of us. Now there has been at least 2 tables around us that has came and gone since we've been seated. However there was a table of 4, that just put the icing on the cake. 4 ppl, same as us. Had came in, been seated, received appetizers, salads, and entrees within 30 minutes. Not to mention their order was almost identical to ours; except we didn't order appetizers. I'm almost positive this table knew one of the guys from the kitchen, and he moved the ticket up. We asked the manager about it, and she went to look into it. After a few minutes of waiting we were all so angry and hungry...we just left. I would like to leave an apology for our waitress as I don't think she had anything to do with our situation. We went to OIFC; ordered and received food within 15 minutes. Staff was fantastic! Had a great experience. OIFC will be our new go to spot! My only regret here, was not going OIFC at 7:30.

Fantastic food and amazing view. Has a very island beachy feel-we loved it. Tropical colored, tall adirondack chairs on beach level that are fun to hang out on and enjoy the scenery. Good for groups and the peel and eat shrimp is phenomenal!!!

We had a wonderful dinner on the top deck with the family. Ryne had the Shrimp Po Boy and people actually came to our table to congratulate him for eating it. It was huge. My shrimp and flounder combo was nicely cook and tasted great. We will definitely come back again.
(4)Curt C.
I've been here three times and each time it is delicious. The hush puppies are very good and the fried seafood is great. Get there early in the summer, or you'll wait quite a while for a table.
(4)Peggy E.
Five of us visited this out of the way place for dinner on Saturday night. There was a 30 minute wait but the views of the water made it seem like less. Once we were seated, delicious hush puppies appeared with cinnamon butter and our waitress was perfectly attentive. The crab stuffed portobello mushrooms were a huge hit, and everyone around our table agreed that their meal was cooked to perfection. The fried shrimp were plump and lightly breaded. The stuffed flounder was flaky and moist. The salads were crisp and generous. The portions are large and we are all looking forward to leftovers for lunch! Another great day at the beach!

Great view, cool bar, awesome hush puppies.....terrible steamed shrimp. They were mushy and cold. Disappointed :(
(2)Tim K.
Love the location of this resturant. The view is beautiful so try to eat outside if you can. Both times we ate there we ordered the fresh fish and it was cooked perfectly. Staff is very friendly and the overall experience was very good. The mahi-mahi dinner special was $21 for a rather small piece of fish. A small bottle ofr Miller Lite was $6. Our dinner for two with tip was $65. There are lot's of seafood resturants in the area and this one is priced near the top
(4)Crystal C.
Love this place! Great service. Came in the middle of the day without the crowd and the server suggested I sit on the top deck and read and enjoy the view. Excellent advice! The steamed shrimp are yummy and they have the best iced tea around.
(5)Mitchell G.
Love this place it is always a must when we are in town! The crab cakes are the best in the world!
(5)Dan R.
Fish sandwich was about average and the hush puppies were about the same. Beer was cold.
(3)Edwina M.
The windows were nasty, there was greasy food pieces on the inside of the menu. There was a lemon slice on a window sill. The staff was not busy. I ordered the steak medium rare, it came out medium well and so tough it was hard to cut. It was over priced. The salad was ok, fries were good. We were there at 3:45 and they said we could not order baked potatoes until 4:00. A that price I should have been able to get a baked potato. Only thing good was the view. Will not go back.
(2)ryan M.
Really good outdoor seating options with a 3 level deck over looking the water. The staff was very friendly and busy, but prompt with their service. A few of us ordered the crab cake platter. They were great with a nice spicy seasoning, you can get them fried or grilled. The batter is really light and very little breading, which is hard to find in a crabcake outside of the baltimore md area! The seafood platter was great as well, a lot of food for a reasonable price. Highly recommend trying it out.

A great hidden hideaway with spectacular views of the Intercoastal Waterway. This place is very out of the way (literally out on a point in a residential neighborhood), but the third story bar and outdoor patio is amazing. It is the perfect anecdote to the business of everyday life. It is so relaxing to just watch the sunset and water while sipping a beverage and waiting for dinner. As others have said, you feel like you've found your own little local place, and that is a special feeling indeed. Food-wise, no complaints - fancy it ain't. However, the seafood is very tasty, well-seasoned and comes out hot. Also, make sure to try the free hush puppies that arrive on your table, they are a family recipe and hit the spot! Prices are reasonable for the atmosphere, view and quality. Service is fine, friendly, casual and reasonably prompt. If you are staying at Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach or Shallotte, this place needs to be on your list!

Went here a few weeks ago and I just now remembered that I needed to write a review of this hidden gem! Friends of our came in from Texas and we found this restaurant and we loved it!! Food was great, location felt hidden and we actually felt like locals! :) Seafood is my second fav food and I would have to say that the seafood here was fresh and served HOT! Sweet Potatoe fries were yummmyyyyyy!!! And the fish melted in my mouth. so good!

We went to Inlet View with some people who had gone before and given it rave reviews...afterwards, we all agreed: something was very off the night we went. First off, the service was very slow...the waitress was something out of "Sweet Home Alabama" and I half expected Reese Witherspoon to come out from around the corner...after we ordered, the waitress finally came out with our salads and managed to dump a tub of italian dressing all over a $400 Coach purse being carried by one of the ladies in our party...yes, accidents happen, but this was just the beginning of our Inlet View experience... Second, the food was nothing to write home about. Okay, maybe since I'm a seafood snob from Charleston and also experience fine dining in Dallas-Fort Worth on a regular basis, I am biased...but still, I do expect simple things be done correctly. I order the grilled scallops, and to say they were "luke-warm" would be a stretch...everyone else in our party essentially said the same thing...the food had obviously been sitting out for quite a while before being served to us. I made the mistake of ordering dessert, a chocolate layer cake, which was supposedly "baked locally" but tasted exactly like a refrigerated Pepperidge Farm cake picked up at the local Food Lion, complete with cold icing. Lastly, the whole "Inlet View" claim is way way off, in my opinion...sure, you can see the inlet from your table on the second floor deck, if you stand up...but if you are sitting at your table, you are looking square at the porch railing. When I heard about an "inlet view", I imagined something like the Charleston Crab House in Charleston, SC, where you have amazing views of the Ashley River that are unobstructed. At Inlet View Bar & Grill, you have to get up and walk to get that "inlet view" from an open area on the 2nd floor, or from the bar on the third floor, which, to me, is nothing special. The waitress said something a couple times about them being short-staffed, and I completely believe her...this was an experience that no restaurant could survive on if it happened on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the members of our party that had been before, stated that "Inlet View has lost us...we'll be getting out seafood in Calabash from now on"...I will definitely not be going back ever again.

Wonderful view and food to match. Not cheap, but worth it.
(5)Tim T.
Nice views of the Shallotte river. Friendly staff. I have been twice and was unimpressed both times. Very casual and just mediocre food. I had sea scallops which were not hot over a few pieces of cold spinach. No sauce and very plain and forgettable. Hush puppies were good, and plenty of food was served. Give the place a try as there is not much else in the area, but I will probably not return.
(2)Jen B.
This place is definitely off the beaten path - but it's located right on the water with spectacular views. And the food is great too. Some of the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. Wait staff is very friendly and service is quick. We will definitely be going back next year.
(5)Melissa G.
It was hard to decide between a 3 and 4 star. The view is fabulous! The food was, I would say, good! Service was a little slow. But the food did come hot! Will definitely go back. Great place to sit with your honey and have a drink and appetizer. If you have a boat you can drive your boat right up and dock it, go eat have a drink and then take a nice boat ride home.
(4)Theodore D.
Tasty soft shell crabs. They come from a purveyor a few miles down the road that holds them in live tanks until they molt. Went back the next day and had another. A little pricey for full dinner, but well cooked and served. Great view. For a Saturday lunch w/ a couple of pints ( Sweetwater on tap) just about perfect.
(4)Jamie M.
Our experience was great. The food was amazing we had the stuff flounder. I can not wait to go back and enjoy this dish again.
(5)Josh G.
Was there on 8/26. Food was okay tasting. Nothing we had was bad, but nothing really great either. They had no baked potatoes because the cooks "forgot to put them in." The service was friendly and pretty quick. It is a very relaxed atmosphere with the breeze from the waterway and nice country tunes playing overhead. Pricing is very reasonable. 4 adults and 2 children with no alcohol was $80.
(3)Peter B.
Great staff! Peel and eat shrimp was good, great portions for the price. Very nice scenery if you eat out on the deck.
(4)Scottie M.
The locals recommended it..that says a lot for me. We ate there 3 times in our week stay. The food is AWESOME! Our portions were great. NO complaints here. The views are spectular.

Inlet View delivers. This is a great spot for local color. If I were a tourist, wait I don't live here, so I am a tourist. So as a tourist, I would love to come here in the warm weather, sit outside and eat hushpuppies. The menu offers sandwiches, salads, soups and typical fried seafood platters. Today their special was oysters for a quarter! Yay. We had some steamed and raw. The view is spectacular. There are three decks, a dining room and an upstairs bar. Inlet View makes me say, Calabash who?
(4)Jodi M.
This was my second time dining at Inlet View Bar and Grill. This place is such a gem. The restaurant is located on such a beautiful piece of property alongside the intracostal waterway. I started off with the fried green tomatoes, which were very delicious! My main course consisted of snow crab legs, fried corn and a side salad....all of which were very satisfying. The only issue I have with this place was the timeliness and overall quality of the wait staff; however, it was a busy Saturday night. All in all, great place to dine!
(4)Polly F.
Stopped here for lunch. Very friendly & attentive staff. Casual. local sort of spot. Terrific hush puppies, sweet with a bit of spicy bite. Homemade potato chips were crispy and tasty. The grilled grouper sandwich was simple, but tasty. As were the grilled scallops. As others have noted, the view is strange on the second floor - you look right at a substantial wood railing. Top floor would have been perfect. Still, I enjoyed the casual, friendly atmosphere and the simple, but tasty, food.
(3)Shawn L.
Horrible! no oysters no shrimp no flounder no clams not crowded but out of everything at 7pm I won't be back
(1)Will C.
Awesome views and cold beers over the marsh. Does not get better for that in the Holden Beach/Shalotte area. Food and service left alot to be desired. Go for happy hour and then to ProCo for grub.
(2)Ryan G.
This restaurant is 3 stories - each with their own view, which was one of my favorite features of the Inlet. We dined on the top floor, which has a view of the intercoastal and the river (a view of a full moon reflecting off the water didn't hurt). A secret, the top floor is for "waiting" but you can get a full menu at the picnic tables - just ask a server. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The service was very Carolina - friendly and attentive. I would return in a heartbeat.

First time here. Read yelp reviews previously. Food was pretty good. Scallop sandwich delicious( bun needs to be steamed), sweet potato fries great! Soft shell crabs we're good but a touch greasy. Fries were ordinary frozen variety as was the fried frozen 1/2 ear of Niblets corn. As someone mentioned, the views are great if you stand but while seated all you can see is the railing. Lower the rail or raise the seating.......then it would be a much more pleasant dining experience.......or a nice way to spend the cocktail hour. That said, I'll certainly give it another try, after all this is Brunswick County. If you're like the guy in a previous review who was contrasting it with Charleston (unfairly),my thought is "if you want Charleston, stay in Charleston! By the way, servers were very friendly , if slightly disorganized.
(3)Carol S.
We've been coming to this area for 20 years and just discovered Inlet View this year...had breakfast, lunch and dinner here last week at different times...all 3 times, waitresses were very helpful, food was delicious, take home those hush puppies...plus live music on Friday night, Sitting outside looking at the water and boats an added plus.
(4)Joseph C.
We heard from a number of friends that this was a "must try." This informal inlet restaurant/bar is just what the area needs. A place where you can get good food for a reasonable price. We had the grilled mahi sandwiches which amounted to a one inch thick slab of fish that easily covered the hamburger style roll. The fish was moist and tasty. Not overcooked. We don't know what the tables on either side of us had but they expressed their enjoyment to their server. Had the fries been fresh from the fryer we would have given this 5 stars. The Inlet is off the beaten track but worth the trip.
(4)Dave S.
Great view with friendly service. Needs a bigger menu.

I just returned home from my vacation in shalotte. For the past three summers, we have made a point to make sure we ate at Inlet View several times. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The chef came out several times when we there to check on customers. The owners, Samantha and Timmy are very friendly as well. They both went out of their way to greet the guests. However, the best part is the food. they start you off with fresh made hush puppies. They are sweet with a lil spice and before you know it the basket will be empty. while we there, we tried fried shrimp, stuffed flounder, shrimp creole, cheeseburger, calico scallops, salads and even breakfast. All of the food was delicious. You can't get any fresher seafood anywhere. Also, Inlet view has great views from all sides of the restaurant. During summer months, there is usually a band on the third floor on weekends. We enjoyed the music. We will go back next summer for sure.
